2007 started with a bang!!! After a pregnancy consisting of FOUR fainting spells, THREE kidney stones, and
TWO hospital stays, we welcomed ONE baby boy at 10:52pm on January 18, 2007, Tate David Christensen was finally here, and was as perfect as we had imagined. He arrived almost a whole month early, and was only 6lbs 4oz. I guess Tate was anxious not to miss any more of the year.
The first half of 2007, was spent finishing Law School at Creighton University. After 2 years in Omaha (3 for Paul), we packed up our little home and moved back to Utah. Luckily we were not using a hand cart, though Uhaul is not much better. Leaving was bitter sweet as we said goodbye to so many dear friends. I said goodbye to the incredible women I worked with in the stake relief society presidency, and Paul gave up what he claims is the best calling in the church – gospel doctrine teacher.
We arrived in Sandy and spent the next few months living with Paul’s parents, Roger and Elaine. Tate loved being with his “Nainie” every day, and I loved relaxing by the pool. Elaine spoiled us like crazy and even cooked dinner for us EVERY night.
After many days of looking through homes with Elaine, I found the home of my dreams in Saratoga Springs. It had everything I was looking for and nothing was going to keep me from building a nest for my two boys. After some tough negotiations, we finally moved in on the first of July.
Sadly, most of our neighbors (and sometimes even myself) thought I was a single mother. Paul was so busy working fulltime and studying for the Bar, I was lucky if I saw him anytime before 11 o’clock. It was a long few months! I’m not sure who was happier for the Bar to be over Tate, me or Paul. But at the end of July, he sat for the Bar and PASSED with flying colors. After three years and countless hours of studying, Paul was officially a Lawyer. We are so proud of his accomplishments.
Life’s become even more busy with the start of the Utah Flash Basketball season. The opening game went off without a hitch and the season was a success. Tate loves to attend the games and finds the mascot “Flash Fox” to be the most intriguing part. He sits on my lap and claps with all the rest of the fans.
2007 was over before I could blink, and Tate is turning ONE!! I can’t believe our little baby is now officially a toddler. Paul and I are amazed at how much fun he gets each day. My heart aches to see him grow up, but then he does something new and hilarious and I realize it is only going to get better.

Nice novel. I laughed, I cried, I lost 10 pounds!
Nat...I love the pics of your little guy. He is so cute. I actually just had some kidney stones myself a couple of weeks ago, so it's good to hear I'm not the only one who's suffered the UNKNOWN joys of pregnancy. Good to know it's all worth it though. :) Sure love ya. --Erin
