Just a Small Piece of My Mind!!

As many of you know Paul works for The Utah Flash Basketball team. That team is owned by Paul's good friend Brandt Andersen. Brandt has also been working on a project at Point of the Mountain with renowned architect Frank Gehry (google him, he's amazing, think Guggenheim, Disney Concert Hall in LA.) The projects conceptual model and name "The Point" was unveiled last week at an open house in Lehi. Here's the story in the Deseret News: http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,700261632,00.html

I was amazed at the response from local news outlets and the community about this project. Many people are skeptical about the size, cost, and overall appearance of it. The Point will include a five star hotel, outdoor amphitheater, arena, 2 lakes (for wakeboarding, of course), residential and retail space, high end shopping, and restaurants.

With the economy the way it is, it is hard for people to see the vision and to be at all "OPTIMISTIC" about this projects success. I am having such a hard time with the negative and flat out belligerent comments from people about this project and Brandt. Jealousy is the first thing that comes to mind!! But why fight against something that will bring recognition and economic growth to Utah. All of Frank Gehry's work, although sometimes controversial, are major tourist attractions and pieces of architectural history. I love that he doesn't build square glass boxes, he thinks and innovates. Think of what the world would be if we all thought and created like Frank Gehry! Think what the world would be if we were as driven and passionate as Brandt. I'm losing faith in the people of Utah for discouraging and berating someone who is trying to do something new and different.

Paul has put many hours into this project and has forgone his law career to work with Brandt and his amazing vision of The Point. He is confident with his decision to work with Brandt. THIS WILL HAPPEN, and when it does I am sure all the naysayers out there will be the first to come and enjoy it!!

Hey, Nat!
(It's Erin's sister, Haley...) We studied Frank Gehry in my Design Theory class a couple weeks ago and I just have to tell you I AGREE! He's an amazing architect and for Utah to have one of his designs here will be awesome! Thanks to your husband's friend for bringing him here!

Nat, don't let it bother you. There will always be people who will be negative and fight change. There are LOTS of people who are very excited about it and the great things it will bring!
